Security Check When it isn’t the weather or mechanical problems or even labor unrest holding up your flight, it is probably something a little more unnerving, like someone who’s managed to get through security with a suspicious object. It happened twice this month at the Southeast Shuttle terminal at Los Angeles International Airport, In the first case, a woman carrying a gun in her luggage went into the terminal before security caught up with her. In the second case, a man carrying what turned out to be a gun-shaped cigarette lighter got through. In both cases, the people were eventually found (neither was dangerous) but not before the terminal was evacuated, causing substantial delays. Fortunately, such evacuations aren’t all that common, says an airport spokesman, who estimates they occur a few times a year at airports around the country. |
From: Willie@myweb.com Subject: I’m very disappointed! Hi, I am one of the passengers that had to evacuate the airport in Los Angeles last week. I have to say it was really annoying and frustrating when all this happened because the security wasn’t doing their job. Did you know I had an important meeting that was going to determine my promotion? This delay caused me to be late to the meeting, very late. I did not get the promotion because they said I was irresponsible even in important times like these. Will you please do your job correctly? When people working in an important place like an airport don’t do their jobs right, it prevents people like us doing OUR jobs right. Stop making so many laws about people coming into the US and make your security tighter and have better luggage checks. Your very disappointed customer, Willie |
