Video Card Orders Rise North American Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers saw orders rise 4% in November, to $75.1 million, from October, but shipments decline, reflecting excess capacity and weak overall demand. The three-month rolling average of the worldwide orders in November was above the revised October level of $718.8 million but down 68% from $2.99 billion in November 2000, the orders peak of the current video card-equipment cycle, according to figures published by the trade group Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International. The group said the book-to bill ratio was 0.71, meaning that $71 worth of new orders were received for every $100 product shipped for the month. The three-month rolling average of worldwide shipments fell 5% in November, to $916.2 million. |
