Mayanol Wins Funding
ORCHID CREEK, December 8 — The Mayanol Group, based in Orchid Creek, was awarded US$15,000 through the Clanar Healthy Choice Grant Program to help start a small farm. Beginning next year, the group will offer classes on organic gardening. The group’s industrial kitchen, which is now used for courses on food preparation safety, will also be used to host workshops on cooking with fresh vegetables grown on the farm.
The Mayanol Group was founded twelve years ago in Orchid Creek by a group of local residents interested in promoting safety awareness for the area’s agricultural and food preparation workers.
